Our Story

Rob Foster was born and raised in Tadworth, Surrey.

From an early age, Rob was to be found in his Grandma's kitchenlearning the secrets of traditional recipes, conjuring new ideas and experimenting with different ingredients. It was clear from the outset that he was destined to have a career in food and a title of  ‘Chef’.


His passion continued throughout his teenage years, and following formal training at prestigious Westminster College, Rob worked in an array of kitchens at home - including legendary Suffolk foodie mecca Hintlesham Hall and London's celebrated Boulestin - and across Europe, perfecting his craft and expanding his knowledge.

In his early twenties his dream became a reality when he opened his first restaurant, Gemini, which was to become the culinary heart of Tadworth and a wide area beyond. Drawing customers from across the county and garnering praise for an ever-evolving menu that reflected the influences of British, Spanish, French and Italian cuisines, the restaurant went on to receive multiple awards, and is much-missed to this day.

After over 10 successful years at the restaurant Rob decided it was time for a change of scenery, and set up his own private catering company Simply Robert Foster Catering, providing memorable feasts for any occasion, and took on the role as Head Chef at Walton Heath Golf Club, catering for  members, guests and visitors to one of the world's most famous sporting locations.

2020 saw the launch of  the Simply Robert Foster Frozen Meal Collection, a range of delicious frozen ready meals packed with flavour and made using the finest locally sourced ingredients. The collection is available for Online Orders and stocked currently in Hartleys Food Stores in Tadworth, Ye Village Butchers in Walton On The Hill and Betchworth Post Office with new stockists being added to the list very soon.

2021 sees Rob takeover the catering for one of Surrey Hills most sought after Rugby clubs, Dorking Rugby Club. As well as catering for the Members and Players, Rob will also be opening The Rugby Hut, a cafe situated in The Pavilion from where he will serve a varied menu of delicious coffees, cakes, lunch and more. Open on Saturdays and Sundays 9.00am - 17.00pm.


As he embarks on his new chapter, he very much looks forward to welcoming you all.

Rob takes pride in where he sources his produce from. It is very important to him that not only does he support local businesses, he also can rely on those providing the ingredients for his dishes.
